S., and Eakins, S. G. (2009). Financial Markets and Institutions, 6th edition. Pearson. •  For the topics 1-7 essential readings will be announced at the end of each lecture •  Students are expected to prepare themselves for lectures by reading the provided materials beforehand Course completion • Essay on the specific topic – obligatory (up to 10 grade points) • Active participation in discussions – optional (up to 10 grade points) • Written exam – test of 20 questions or problems with multiple choices (up to 20 grade points) •  Students will not be allowed to take an exam without submitting an essay with all the requirements fulfilled Essay •  Specific topics (list of topics is available in the IS) •  Essay should be registered in the IS (Student → Enroll in a topic/variant listed under the package of topics → BPF_TFSC ESSAYS) – registration opens October 1, 2012 •  Express your own opinions and thoughts, based on facts or supported by experts’ opinions •  At least five sources should be used •  Quotations are obligatory and should be integrated into writing •  One page long (longer essays will be penalized) •  Well-organized and structured (introduction, general discussion, conclusions) •  Faculty’s official formatting requirements (Times New Roman, font size of 12 points, 1.5 spacing between the lines, heading with student’s name, UČO and topic) •  List of references (might be put on the second page; use generator.citace.com for its compilation) •  Any tables and figures should be placed on the second page •  Deadline – November 18th, 2013 •  Upload via Information System (Course Materials → Transformation of the Financial System → Depository) Some essay statistics Number of students: 221 Average score: 4.91 Numberofstudents Grade points Grading •  The grades points are given for an essay, lecture participation and correct answers in the exam A = 28-30 B = 26-27 C = 23-25 D = 21-22 E = 18-20 F = below 18 •  Plus/minus grading at student’s request will not be used in this course
