This includes the following: o Using appropriate vocabulary and grammar correctly without any substantial mistakes o Having relevant range of vocabulary o Choosing the correct words/phrases for the given topic/point o Pronouncing words accurately (this includes both individual sounds as well as syllable stress) o Speaking in an understandable and natural fashion – having a varying intonation and a natural rhythm o Using language appropriately according to the selected style § Informal markers – personal language, simpler and informal vocabulary, directly addressing the audience § Formal markers – less personal language, more complex vocabulary, Organization - The presentation should be organized clearly and logically - Students should not jump between one point to another without properly developing the previous point - The organization of the presentation should be easy to follow - The objectives of the presentation are clearly presented to the audience - Students are able to use signposting phrases to better navigate their presentations Mastery of the subject - Students should be well-prepared and know the content of their presentation. - The presentation is presented – i.e. deliver using the students’ natural delivery – rather than read or memorized by heart - Students must be able to answer questions from the audience. Visual Aids - The presentation uses visuals to support its goal; these visuals can include slides, handouts, physical objects in class, etc. - The visuals are appropriate to the chosen presentation topic and are relevant for the presentation - Students show that they are able to interact with the visuals - Text in visuals is of appropriate length and too much text should be avoided Overall Impression - Students are enthusiastic about their presentation and show a desire to present the content to the audience - The delivery of the presentation clearly shows the amount of effort put into it - Students are able to use their body language well to further improve their presentation
