   Most theories of nationalism claim that the nation-state is the fundamental unit for human
   social life and takes precedence over any other social and political principles. This may true
   for most Europe, but what about the post-colonial world and Latin America in particular?  In
   what ways is nationalism constructed?  How is it different?  You must class readings in
   formulating your response.
