STS: What is it? STS is a field in sociology that aims to explain the relationship between society and technology, or the impacts of technology on our social life. How do technological innovations affect and shape our societies? What are the effects of phones on our social habits such as communication? It is also to ask the question of how does society affect science and technology? The second text about the existence of different realities is interesting as it explains the importance of considering the other’s view and definition of things and concepts. In other words, there are different realities in the world and each has been constructed differently by different cultures. This type of reality is probably randomly constructed due to specific events or history of every group of people. Scientific reality, however, is constructed through scientific research and not just discovered. It is constructed following specific methodologies and is sometimes an accumulation of different constructed scientific realities.
