   1)  Much of the class reading and discussion has focused on so-called “customary law”.  What
   is customary law and how do anthropologists understand, define, and employ the notion of
   customary law in their work?

   

   2)  Joan Vincent argues that the law is treated as “less than a universal category and more as
   a historical product” in anthropology.  What does she mean by this and how have the class
   readings illustrated this assertion?
