All the work was of a very high standard and I could see that a lot of time had been invested in the presentations, which were excellent. I am trying to upload the presentation to my website (let me know if you object to this) so that they are generally available and your research will be useful to those searching for this sort of information. I have linked to the Carbon Footprint film from my blog – we will have to try and increase the number of views! Not everybody had provided reflexive journals so I have decided to mark by deducting 10% if these were missing. The ‘journals’ for the sloths was one very short file so I have taken 5% away from members of this group. There was one journal from a member of the Kauri trees without a name so if this is yours let me know and I will give you the 10% back. Group 1 Mark: 70% Feedback You had done a lot of excellent research and I have given you a good mark for that, however the presentation had a lot of technical content and not very much economics content. It is easy to focus on the technical side of green economics, and I can see that you learned a lot, but the point of economics is also about the social and structural economic changes that are necessary. The presentation would have received a higher mark if these had been covered. Incidentally, it is rather ironic about the Severn Barrage but I think the interest is more about profit that environmental benefits and I will be campaign hard against the proposal and for small-scale tidal energy schemes instead. Pandas Mark: 85% Feedback This was a very relevant topic and you had obviously learned a lot as well as taking much time to interview students. There was less evidence of research than some of the groups, since you had only found out the energy impact of four activities, but this was made up for by what you discovered about young people’s energy preferences, which I found really interesting. It seemed to be a type of ‘action research’ for you and your interviewees. Kauri Trees Mark: 90% Feedback I really enjoyed your presentation. It took a lot of work but was very effective. There was evidence of a lot of research finding out about Google and you had also taken a critical stance. The reflexive journals in this group were some of the best. Sloths Mark: 75% Feedback This was a well researched and well presented comparison of renewable energy support in Germany and the Czech Republic. It had a good balance of technical detail, economic information and political conclusions. I learned a great deal from this presentation.
