Filip Křepelka 353@mail.muni.cz MV929K Introduction to EU Law SOC019 Law of the European Union Dear students - guests at Masaryk University and Czech colleagues, "Introduction to the European Union Law" (MV929K) and "Law of the European Union" (SOC019) will be teached during whole autumn term 2006 every Wednesday at 11.10-12.40 in room no. 211 (Právnická fakulta - Faculty of law, (street) Veveri 70, Brno) We will begin in 4th October (no lecture 27th Semptember!) Every lecture will last approx. 80 minutes. For every lecture You will get my hand-out with assignments and indications of compulsory readings. I will also distribute CDs as reader (treaties, legislation, judgements) Since the 2nd lecture we will start with discussion based on assignments and readings. Scheduled lectures 10-04 (1) European Community and European Union - history and nature 10-11 (2) EC/EU Law, its sources and position 10-18 (3) EC/EU Institutions 10-25 (4) Legislative, administrative and judicial procedures 11-01 (5) Free movement of goods 11-08 (6) Free movement of individuals 11-15 (7) Legal entities, services, capital and payments 11-22 (8) Single currency + EC/EU budget 11-29 (9) Competition, other EC policies 12-06 (10) Extarnal trade + foreign and security policy 12-13 (11) Civil, administrative and criminal affairs 12-20 (12) the Czech Republic: admission and membership (The schedule can be changed if suitable or necessary) The course will be finished with written exam (50 minutes). Terms for the examination will be scheduled according to needs of exchange students in December. Czech students will pass the exam (facultative course) in reduced extent in January and February 2007.
