COURSE DESCRIPTION Contract Law in the United States 6 October - 15 October 2009 Instructor: Douglas B. Davidson In this course, you will receive a brief introduction to the law of contracts in the United States. This will include the “elements” (parts) of a contract such as offer, acceptance and consideration. There will also be a discussion of remedies for breach of contract. At the end of the course, the instructor and the class together will write a contract to illustrate the principles that have been taught. This class will be taught in the “Socratic” method used in American law schools. This means that the students are expected to participate in classroom discussion and to ask questions. Grading: Grades will be based partly on each student’s participation in class and on a final project. The final project will consist of drafting a contract based on a set of facts given to them. This project will be done by teams of two students each.
