minimized.

Retention – the filling must not fall out

Resistance – the filling as well as the tooth (the restored tooth) must face up to bite forces.


Retention – connection with  hard dental tisues:

Amalgam – macroretention

Composite – microretention

Glassionomer_- chemical binding

Caries danger areas:

Interproximal spaces, areas below maximal convexity, pits,fissures

Habitually clean areas:

Proximal ridges, cusps, incosal edges, areas above the  maximal convexity.
