   Poetic diction - established literary vocabulary. Considerably expanded in the 20^th century -
   included regional and social dialectisms, slang, taboo words, etc.

   Traditionally:

   ˙     poetic expressions (i.e. poetically restricted words) (woe, billows, nymph, o´er)

   ˙     neologisms  

   

   Deviance from standard lexical structures (r) to create specific meanings.

   Grammatical deviance (Wordsworth:       I to her cottage bent my way ...
