The presentation starts with giving information about the Global South in general and the situation of people with disabilities in this area: their living conditions and the problems they are confronted with. The second part focuses on the educational system in Tanzania and gives a spotlight on Special Education Needs Units in the Kilimanjaro Region and describes the efforts to implement Vocational Trainings to give the students a chance on the labour market when leaving the school. 

Sylvia Wohlschiess - teacher at a Centre for children with intellectual disability (Förderzentrum für geistige Entwicklung) and an assistent at University of Würzburg, spent one year in a Special Education Unit in Arusha Tansania

Thomas Spaett - psychologist and a senior lecturer at University of Würzburg, Institute for Special Education, Education for People with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities
