DEAR STUDENTS; I’ve lost my voice and will try to limit my speaking to the minimum. Today we shall have a competition in tongue twisters. Please start by rehearsing all those at the warm-up level for 2 minutes: all of them for 1 min and your chosen favorite one for the other. TONGUE TWISTERS WARM-UP - A noisy noise annoys an oyster. - Which witch wished which wicked wish? - Many an anemone sees an enemy anemone. - Which wristwatches are Swiss wristwatches? - Red lorry, yellow lorry, red lorry, yellow lorry. Now the competition begins! Study the following three twisters for 3 mins, then try to chose one, rehearse and memorize it for another minute! 1st LEVEL - Swan swam over the sea, Swim, swan, swim! Swan swam back again Well swum, swan! - A flea and a fly flew up in a flue. Said the flea, “Let us fly!“ Said the fly, “Let us flee!“ So they flew through a flaw in the flue. - I am not the pheasant plucker, I’m the pheasant plucker’s mate. I am only plucking pheasants ’Cause the pheasant plucker’s running late. Now in couples, recite your chosen twister to your partner 3 times. Your partner counts your successful lines (max 12). You finish when you mispronounce something, burst out laughting or otherwise falter. Whether you’re still in the game or not, read through the following twisters for 3 minutes. This time you don’t have to memorize them. Concentrate on the rhythm. Choose one and rehearse it for another minute. 2nd LEVEL - How much wood would a woodchuck chuck If a woodchuck could chuck wood? He would chuck, he would, as much as he could, And chuck as much wood as a woodchuck would If a woodchuck could chuck wood. - She sells sea shells by the sea shore. The shells she sells are surely seashells. So if she sells on the seashore, I’m sure she sells seashore shells. - Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. Did Peter Piper pick a peck of pickled peppers? If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, Where’s the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked? Everybody now rehearses the final level twister for 2 minutes. Mind the logical sentence stress and rhythm. FINAL LEVEL - You’ve no need to light a night-light On a light night like tonight, For a night-light’s light’s a slight light And tonight’s a night that’s light. When a night’s light like tonight’s light, It is really not quite right To light night-lights with their slight lights On a light night like tonight. Everybody’s reward on youtube: woodchuck jager
