HOW FROM ONE MANY WERE BORN

At the times

of the beginning

there was no Earth and no beings.

Only Ksaw Wala, the Great Spirit,

the floating shadow of possibilities,

was in existence.


This spirit was at times male

and at times female.

Thus it reproduced

and gave birth to many spiritual beings.


Hence these were born:

Ekthe, the Awareness of Space

the Thunder

TiweYase, the One that Named the Earth

Weetahn, the One that Stops Illnesses on Time

Klum, the Chief Spirit of Nature

Daati, the Spirit of Brotherhood

Si, the Spirit of Changes

Tay, the Sun

Ate, the Moon

And Weha, the Wind, the Chief Spirit of Nature.


These are the older children of Ksaw Wala,

the Great Spirit.


They continued reproducing

giving birth to plants, animals, minerals,

and also to one very special child,

which was called Nasa, human being.


All these spiritual beings,

older and younger alike,

lived together.


They spoke one language,

but mastered many skills,

and had a deep knowledge of plentiful things.

They became story tellers and craftsmen,

as well as shamans, advisors, musicians and farmers.


And this is how from the One,

many had germinated into the World.
