AJL17085 / AJL27091: American Visual Art and Social and Political Commentary Course Objectives Students will be able to understand in broad outline the value of studying American art for its social and political commentary and criticism. This is one strain––an important strain––of American visual art generally.  That feature of American art history will be the chief focus of our intensive mini-course . Course Schedul e March 21–25, 2022 at Faculty of Arts, MUN I Daily sessions Monday–Friday: 10–11:40am and 2–3:40pm Course Requirements 1. ATTENDANCE: Students are expected to be present for all the sessions, on time, and above all, to actively participate in class discussions. 2. ASSIGNMENTS FOR CLASSES: There are no readings or assignments to complete between class sessions throughout the week. 3. FINAL PAPER: At the end of the term, students must present a very short essay (3-4 double-spaced pages) on any topic reasonable related to the themes and artworks raised in the class sessions. The instructor will explain this in greater detail during the first session. Final research papers will be uploaded into the IS vault by June 3, 2022.
