PEPRNIK UNITS 3-4

1.

Bydleli jsme ve starém zchátralém domě v řadové zástavbě. Teklo střechou a stěny byly vlhké. Táhlo
tam, protože tam nebyla dvojitá okna.  Proto jsme se přestěhovali do garsonky v novém sídlišti. Je
malá, ale  máme tam  veškeré  vybaveni.


We lived in an old dilapidated terrace house. The roof leaked and the walls were damp. It was
draughty there as the windows were not double glazed. That’s why we decided to move to a bed-sitter
in a new housing estate. It’s small but we have all the coveniences there


 2.   V místnosti jsou jen dvě zásuvky. Na tu vrtačku budeš potřebovat prodlužku.


 There are only two sockets in the room. You’ll need an extention cord to plug in the drilling
machine.

Z ulice se sem dostává tolik špíny, že musíme každý den vytírat podlahy a jednou  týdně je
vydrhnout.  Koberce potřebují vysávat, mechanický smeták nestačí.


     There is so much dirt coming from the street that we have to mop the floors every day and give
them  scrub once a week. The carpets need to be vacuum cleaned:the carpet sweeper won’t do the job.


4.   Dřez je zacpán a voda neodtéká. Je potřeba uvolnit ten špunt zvonem.


      The sink is blocked and the water won’t escape. It’s necessary to  release the blockage
with a plunger.


5.    Nové koště dobře mete


 A new broom sweeps clean.

6    Už má doma andulku v kleci a teď by chtěla štěně  jezevčíka.


     She’s got a budgerigar in a cage  and now she’d like to get  a dachshund puppy.



7. Někdy je to docela problém sehnat solidního nájemníka.


      It is sometimes quite a problem to get a decent lodger.

 Po kočce zůstaly po celé pohovce chlupy


       The cat has left her loose hairs all over the sofa.


  9.    Veřejné prádelny jsou vybaveny pračkami a sušičkami, které fungují a mince


       Laundrettes are equiped with coin operated washing machines and dryers.

10.     Nenechávej věci  povalovat jen tak, ukliď si v pokojíku.


        Don’t leave the things lying about,just tidy up your room.



11.      Byl pro nás zklamáním. Spoléhal na svůj výjimečný talent, nepsal úkoly, chodil za
školu a nakonec musel být vyloučen ze školy.



.He was a great disappointment to us.  He relied on his extraordinary talent , shirked  doing his
homework , cut classes and  eventually he had to be expelled from school.



12.    Strašně nerad se učí matematické vzorce, které jsou potřebné k výpočtu rovnic.


    He hates to learn mathematical formulas needed for counting equations.



13.       Učitel muí udělat zápis do třídní knihy a zapsat presenci.



            .The teacher has to make an entry in the class register and has to mark the pupils
absent or   late.



14.      Tělesné tresty byly zrušeny, ale trest ponechávání po škole  se stále používá na některých
venkovských školách



             Corporal punishment has been abolished but the punishment of keeping in school after
hours is still practised in some village schools.

15.        Ten strom dosáhne sve největší velikosti za sto let.


           The tree will reach its full size in a hundred years.


16. Očekává se, že učitel bude znát nejnovější poznatky ze svého oboru,musí také být schopen
podnítit  zájem žáků o jeho předmět, rozvíjet schopnost logického uvažování, jejich smysl pro
krásu, lásku k četbě, občanskou zodpovědnost a vlastenectví.


         The teacher is expected to know the latest developments in his field. He also must be able
to stimulate the pupil’s interest in his subjects     and develop the power of logcal reasoning,
their sense of beauty a love of reading, civic reponsibility, and patriotism.
