You will find both, theory and practice, in this folder: https://is.muni.cz/auth/el/phil/podzim2020/CJVAGR/um/ . In the class, then, we will go over your answers and discuss any potential problems. CREDIT ASSIGNMENT – COURSE COMPLETION All the exercises are supposed to develop your use of grammar in academic English and your credit assignment will correspond with this aim. Namely, you will write a text 350-400 words long (or record a presentation) in which you will support or reject a hypothesis/theory related to your field of study. Your text should include: 1. Comparing and analysing (adjectives and adverbs) 2. Hedging (adjectives and adverbs) 3. Hypothesising and argumentation (modals, conditionals) 4. Referencing (reporting verbs, relative clauses) 5. Maintaining coherence (connectors) Through writing this text you will also show your comprehension of other structures, like tenses, verb forms, pronouns, etc. I will ask you to upload your work to Homework Vault (odevzdávárny) for this course https://is.muni.cz/auth/el/phil/podzim2020/CJVAGR/ode/ in the last week of the fall term.
