Degradation of wax protective layers on copper samples Martina Brázdová1 , David Pavliňák1 , Jiří Příhoda1 1 Masaryk university, Faculty of Science, Kotlářská 2, 611 37 Brno To find out protective properties of different kinds of wax treated copper samples, the corrosion tests in the weather conditions were carried out. The ageing of waxes for longer time leads to their degradation due to IR and UV radiation. Different hydrofobicity of particular waxes is a typical property of waxes that is changing during the corrosion test. Therefore contact angles, as the measure of water repulsion, and tendency to corrosion, were investigated. Natural beeswax was compared with some synthetic waxes spread on the copper samples.
