We are looking for a candidates who has experience in different aspects of natural product
chemistry using LC-MS, GC-MS and NMR; experience in the isolation and characterisation of natural
compounds, and knowledge of the biological activity of natural products. The candidate should also
have some botanical knowledge and an understanding of the distribution of natural products in
plants.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a range of plants and fungi and not
only further understand the role these compounds play in plants and fungi but how these compounds
might impact human health.
They will also have the opportunity to work with both academic and commercial researchers on the
development of new leads for use in personal health care.
Based at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew in London, you will conduct cutting-edge research on the
chemistry and biological activity of plants and fungi. We will consider any applicant with an
excellent track record, and strong research proposal, in the general area of plants and/or fungal
chemistry.
The salary will be £30,981 - £36,941 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

A world leading speciality chemical manufacturing business is currently seeking a R&D Chemist to
join their team in Oxford on a permanent basis. Based within their technology function, you will
take a primary focus on research projects, completing development and formulation work on new/next
generation chemical products.
R&D Chemist Responsibilities:
* Develop and formulate new chemical products that will be applied to industry and for bespoke
requirements from customers/clients.
* Synthesise, analyse and perform test procedures of new components.
* Design, recommend and execute experimental programmes.
* Communicate with internal and external contacts/parties.
* Participate in project teams and to present results and conclusions to the wider team.
* Oversee the maintenance of lab equipment.
R&D Chemist Requirements:
* You must have a degree qualification in Chemistry or closely related field of study.
* Possess experience operating within a commercial R&D laboratory completing formulation on
speciality chemical products.
* Ability to take an objective view of technical problems and address them with creativity and
innovation.
* Strong technical competencies including data manipulation.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to develop personal relationships
with team colleagues.
