Dear all,

first of all, welcome to the Faculty of Law! Thank you for your interest in our seminar 'Theory of State' which will run in English. You are making your life more difficult but I fully understand this choice and I appreciate your interest :-)

I have set up a group for us in Microsoft Teams, the code is su5v2up - please join it! It is a group for all my students of 'Státověda', both in Czech and in English. For you, there is a separate channel called 'Theory of State' - please join it as well. In there, we will have all our classes - these will run on Mondays at 16.00 (every 14 days), our first class is scheduled on Monday 12 October.

At the same time, however, you are expected to follow the lectures in 'Státověda' (MP121Zk), these will take place on Wednesdays at 8am, starting next Wednesday (7 October), and you can watch them here: https://is.muni.cz/auth/do/law/stud/streams/025.html

In general, lectures are not obligatory, but if you are able to attend them, I strongly recommend it, for two reasons. First, they give you a very useful introduction into topics which we will discuss in seminars, so your participation in lectures will enable us to have a more advanced discussion during our seminars. Second, while our seminars will be in English, you will still have to take the exam in Czech, so the lectures will be a very useful tool for you to learn the terminology also in your native language. The reason for this bilingual arrangement is that this course is also a preparation for 'Ústavní právo' which you will all attend in Czech language.

All our further communication will run in MS Teams - it is crucial you join the group ASAP. If you struggle with any technical issues, do send me an email, I will gladly help. You can also expect some assignments in MS Teams soon.

Looking forward to meeting you face-to-face (altough via MS Teams) in two weeks' time!
