This lecture and workshop will focus on the application of attachment theory and its constructs to psychotherapy. It will look at how different attachment patterns/strategies manifest in a therapeutic relationship as well as in one’s close relationships. In particular, the lecture will focus on the preoccupied, avoidant and unresolved patient as well as on attachment-related constructs such as mentalization, attachment-related trauma, dissociation, etc. and how these relate to constructs traditionally used in psychodynamic therapies (such as therapeutic relationship, transference -counter-transference, enactment, etc). Lastly, we will explore the link between attachment security and identity formation.

The lecture will take place from 10.00 to 11.40. The interactive seminar will take place from 14.00 to 17.40. The course will be completed through a written test on the assigned literature during the examination period.
