Many current students of the social sciences may wonder where and under what terms they can use their research knowledge and skills. This course gives students the opportunity to dive into the field of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), which is widely used by national and international organizations in the implementation of various humanitarian, social, and technical assistance projects.

Monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge management have become part of the daily work routine in the non-governmental and international sectors. Organizations and international projects and programs need to evaluate the effectiveness of their interventions - whether planned projects achieve their goals, whether the efforts made are relevant to the results obtained, whether a project has a systemic impact on its target groups, etc. “While the practice of evaluation is often claimed to be partly an ‘art’ drawing deeply on the insight and experience of the evaluator, it is also a highly organized, sequenced, and methodical undertaking” (Markiewicz and Patrick, 2016).

During the course, we will follow the path of a monitoring and evaluation specialist and learn the key approaches to implementing various projects. After all, every monitoring and evaluation project is a study of a range of issues related to the activities of a group of people, organizations, and even countries.
