COURSE GOALS
Welcome to the online support for Communication skills training. We aim here at improving skills such as presenting messages to others, actively listening and giving adequate feedback - in other words, communicating better. We develop these skills through prepared speeches, training various kinds of feedback and trying out techniques from theatre improvisation. Everyone is involved throughout the whole lesson. We usually have a lot of fun, but at the same time, it's quite a bit of hard work too.
MATERIALS
Here you can find manuals for the preparation of your speeches as well as room for your reflections, some educational videos from our workshops and other inspiring materials, which we found useful and which have influenced our own growth.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
In the process of this course, you will create 3 five-minute speeches with the following characteristics:
The aim of the first speech is to introduce yourself.
The second speech focuses on structure.
The third speech focuses on setting and achieving a goal.
For each speech that you present/upload and get feedback for, you will write a reflection. That is a short essay in which you reflect on what you did well in your speech and what you feel still needs working on. You can find more information by clicking on the “reflection” forums themselves.
USEFUL TIPS
In the study materials for individual speeches you will find some theoretical expansions of available manuals (texts by our instructors) and inspirational videos/audios, that we have chosen thematically for each of the three speeches.
