  • 11.How can I set the dark mode interface theme in IS MU?

Users can enable the dark mode (dark IS MU theme) on the IS MU homepage by clicking the gear icon in the upper right corner and selecting one of the dark themes.

1 The gear icon opens a menu with theme selection.

2 On the right, there is an option that allows you to filter only dark themes.

3 It is also possible to filter dark themes by category.

4 The dark theme is selected by clicking on the image or the radio button.

Tip: Smoother display of the dark theme in the browser

To enable smoother transitions between pages, it is useful to set the website appearance to dark mode in your browser. This prevents white flashes from appearing during longer page loads when switching pages.

Which applications have not been converted to dark mode:

    • Mail – The application remains in light mode even when using the dark theme. At this time, we do not plan to fully convert this older application to dark mode. Usage of the application is low compared to others, as many users read their mail through other means (forwarding, or accessing mail via desktop/mobile applications).
    • Interactive Syllabi – Syllabi as part of e-learning are fully user-generated content. Automatically switching this content to dark mode is problematic and, without review by the author of the interactive syllabus, highly risky. The color of text in the syllabus can have specific meaning, and shifting hues or converting them to a dark version could significantly alter that meaning. At the same time, it is not feasible to place the responsibility on authors and require them to review all their syllabi to ensure that the message is not altered when displayed in dark mode. In the future, adjustments to syllabi are planned that will give authors more control over the visual design of their content.
    • Charts – For example, percentile charts or other types of charts currently cannot be generated in dark mode; they therefore remain in light mode.
    • User-edited posts in discussions – As soon as user edits are detected in IS MU that could potentially cause unreadability, they are not converted to the dark design.
    • ROPOTs – to ensure a consistent display of the test for all students, the ROPOTs application is kept in light mode. All applications that display quiz questions (e.g., ROPOTs, Questions - Difficulty Level, etc.) are also kept in light mode.
    • Workplace safety training – the Workplace safety training application contains external content, which we cannot modify.
    • User-edited posts in Noticeboard – as soon as user edits are detected in IS MU that could potentially cause unreadability, they are not converted to the dark design.
