For participants from MU whose workshop fees will be covered by MU, a
different payment procedure applies. The customer will not pay directly
at the OC, but must mention this in the note and contact their home
Economic Department (EO) with a request to issue an internal order and
send it to the Economic Department of the Faculty of Informatics (to the
address ekon@fi.muni.cz).
Bioinformatics workshop is designed to offer hands-on experience in analyzing modern genomics data, and is open to a broad scientific community, including non-academics. Various topics are covered throughout the year.
The topic of the workshop on February 2nd is "Genome assembly" - we are living in an era where the technological advancements allow us to assemble complete chromosomes, from telomere to telomere, including previously inaccessible regions such as centromeres or sex chromosomes. The workshop will take place at the Faculty of Informatics, from 8:30-12:30 (an afternoon block can be added upon request). The basic knowledge of bioinformatics, command line, and linux environment is required for all participants. The number of participants is limited to 15.
The workshop on February 2nd will cover:
- data types required for telomere-to-telomere (T2T) assembly of complete chromosomes
- algorithms optimized for diploid genome assembly
- quality control of genome assemblies
- working with haplotype-resolved assemblies
- considerations for human genomics versus non-model organisms
- a Q&A session addressing participants’ questions
