The two-year follow-up Master's study in Applied Education of Security Forces within the Physical Education and Sport study programme aims at preparing qualified, university educated specialists in the management of security forces' special education of a wide scope. The study is conceived so as to educate students in humanities, economy, law and security, medicine and biology, civic law and the theory of sports. In addition to general and specialised theories, students get special physical training and acquire self-defence and martial arts skills, as well as skills in special professional physical preparation. The study programme prepares students for creative and independent work and communication in extraordinary situations. Crisis management skills and team work are supported.

After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

  • use the theory of sports activities in the security forces. They can demonstrate and explain particular sports skills, create a training plan and teach accordingly
  • master the knowledge of pedagogy, psychology and other related subjects (complemented with a specific part for adult education) necessary to obtain the proper qualification in teaching
  • apply their practical skills in test self-defence situations naturally. They also put together particular moves and change the move structure to solve a given motion problem spontaneously
  • accept the moral outcomes of self-defence. They respect the valid legal norms and can distinguish between social and personal needs
  • master the knowledge of methodology in kinanthropology and can apply them in research projects. They can also analyse the acquired data, summarize it and draw general conclusions
  • work with the theoretical base of security and law. They can choose appropriate parts of the knowledge and apply them in the educational environment of the security forces

Graduates are trained not only to lead, organise, manage and evaluate the educational process aimed at self-defence, but also lead, organise, manage and evaluate the educational process aimed at security bodies. Graduates gain skills both as managers and teachers. They can find jobs in the area of lifelong learning education within security bodies and security body training. The job market offers a wide range of jobs in public and state administration, private security companies, prison service, correctional educational facilities, airport and railway police, state police, municipal police, and other security bodies. Graduates are able to organise combat activities, can serve as martial arts teachers, combat sports coaches, and self-defence instructors.

The standard duration of studies is four semesters. For admittance to the final state examination students must obtain a total of 120 ECTS credits in required, selective and elective courses.

For all students there is an obligation to pass an examination in English.

During the course of their studies students should follow the template assigned at the beginning of their studies in the Information system.

Work experience is an obligatory part of the curriculum for this field. It is aimed at gaining teaching competences for primary and secondary schools, particularly in the specific field of the study field.

The graduation requirements follow the Dean's directive No. 2/2013.

Students have to defend their Master's thesis and pass an oral examination in the following subjects:

Theory and didactics of sport education of security bodies

After completion of the Master's studies, it is possible to continue in further studies in any doctoral degree programme (after satisfying the admission requirements). At the Faculty of Sport Studies students can apply for admission to a doctoral degree in Kinanthropology.
