The study programme focuses on the economics and management of a company as a whole, as well as of its individual functions: production, personnel, scientific-technical, business, and economic-financial. The goal within the scope of the study is to understand factual, economic, organizational, informational, and managerial aspects of the processes that take place in a company and of the relationships among these aspects. In addition to theoretical knowledge, students will develop the necessary skills for executive and managerial activities. Business and entrepreneurship issues are covered in the bachelor's degree at general level - the anchoring of general skills, and in the follow-up Master's degree is then further divided into three study directions (block orientation):

Block A - General management and marketing

Block B - Financial management and controlling

Block C - Operational management and logistics.

After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

  • operate with a professional style of expression in writing and speaking; use the communication and teamwork, exercise appropriate behaviour in different social situations
  • speak a very good professional level of English and another world language; easily present and discuss in those languages and write scientific texts
  • choose and use tools of quantitative analysis to solve problems relating to various areas of business economics, correctly interpreting the results of the solution
  • explain advanced theoretical and methodological knowledge of general economic theory
  • recognize theoretical knowledge of specialized disciplines relating to business economics and management and use this knowledge to solve model and actual situations
  • use knowledge in practice; examine the economics and management of real business, design management systems, and control the implementation of a series of practical activities related to economics and management companies

Graduates will be able to work as experts in different departments of companies, in mid-level managerial functions, and possibly as top managers’ assistants. Other possibilities include management system analysts and planners, economic-organizational consultants, etc.

The curriculum is composed so as to enable graduates to gain comprehensive knowledges and skills in business economics and management. A further enabled him to specialize in the selection of one of three study blocks - international management and marketing, financial management and logistics. Courses are in semesters and years stacked so that at each content-related, in the second year the emphasis is on comprehensive use of knowledge acquired during their studies - both in the context of a diploma thesis and as a part of complex subjects Strategic Management of a company and in particular the Project System of the company leading.

Responsibility for completing the master's program is to obtain at least 120 credits, of which 71 credits represent mandatory special courses (27 credits of which consists of items related to the master thesis) and 23 to 27 credits compulsory subjects for each block, then around 10 credits compulsory optional subjects (including selected second foreign language). Student is required to attend all courses of study of a selected block - the choice is not binding and can be changed during the study, or simultaneously study more blocks. This is yet to be attributed to the mandatory two semesters of physical education, for a total of 2 credits. The remaining credits a student completes its discretion of elective courses faculty or the entire MU.

The diploma exam consists of three parts - master thesis defence, exam of special subject of corporate economy and exam of economics. The duration is about 60 minutes, that the defense is determined roughly the first half. During this time student presents their master thesis, then they are read opinions of the supervisor and the opponent, everything closes answering of questions from opinions and the general debate of the master thesis with committee members. Master thesis usually have two basic parts - theoretical, representing special outcomes, and practical, solving managerial problem defined in a concrete company. Within the bounds of the bachelor thesis student demonstrates their ability to write a coherent academic text, including the ability to find, analyze and propose concrete solutions of practical and specific problem of real company, which generally can not be described as trivial (ie. its solution requires a deeper analysis).

Within the bounds of a exam of specialized subject student draws one of the ten model enterprises. After a short preparation, the examination committee asks for analysis and design solutions of the situation of the company. Emphasis is placed on knowledges, that are corresponding with specialization of the student (ie. the study block), but is expected the preparedness to respond to general questions from business economy and management. At the conclusion is going on the exam of the economics - a student again draws one of prepared questions and after the short preparation he answers. The level of knowledge corresponds to the level of courses Microeconomics 2 and Macroeconomics 2. The scope and form of exams are comparable to the state finals on the other nursery fields of ESF MU.

After completing the Master’s degree study programme, it is possible to continue further studies in any doctoral degree study programme (after satisfying the admission requirements).
