The basic aim of education in the field of Secondary School Teacher Training for Specialized Subjects is to prepare a fully qualified teacher for secondary vocational school with the requisite knowledge and skills in a specialized subject and corresponding didactics. A further aim is to develop attitudes towards further self-education as a framework of lifelong learning. The content of the Master's programme is a synthesis of acquired professional knowledge and a creation of knowledge and skills in the didactics of the specialized subject. Basic knowledge in the specialized subjects is further enhanced. The field didactics focuses on the issue of didactic knowledge in the vocational subject and on integration with other branch disciplines.
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- apply comprehensive and systematic structured knowledge and skills in a specialized subject
- apply fundamental knowledge and skills of didactics of the vocational subject
- have sufficient skills to work as a teacher at a secondary vocational school
Graduates are fully qualified to work as a teacher at a secondary vocational school. Moreover, they are qualified to work in extracurricular institutions.
The standard duration of studies is four semesters. For admittance to the final state examination students must obtain a total of 120 ECTS credits in required, selective and elective courses. Required courses constitute the basis of the discipline and make up 32 credits. The principles of checking and evaluating the study are set out in the Study and Examination Regulations of Masaryk university.
Reflected teaching practice is in accordance with the Framework concepts at PdF MU. The system of teaching practice is long term and systematically directed towards developing the professional skills of the student and preparing them for the role of teacher.
The contents of the state examination are as follows:
- Didactics of vocational subjects
- Thesis defence
- Pedagogical and psychological basis for Master's studies
The state examination is based on the disciplines of didactics of vocational subjects. In order to pass the state examination in Didactics of Vocational Subjects the student has to demonstrate the necessary development of skills, mastery of complex knowledge and basic skills for teaching vocational subjects at secondary vocational schools.
The individual parts of the final state examination may be conducted in writing or oral or in written and oral forms. A part of the state examination is the thesis defence.
