The objective of translation studies is to prepare highly qualified specialists in the sphere of translation studies with the necessary knowledge and skills.

Input language competence is at the C1 level according to the CEFR; output language competence is at the C2 level.

The study is mainly focused on theoretical and practical aspects of literary and professional translation from Spanish into Czech. At the core of the programme are translation workshops and courses in the theory and history of translation, as well as courses in Spanish and Czech linguistics, stylistics, and literary criticism.

Major and minor studies are identical in the corpus of compulsory subjects. The difference is in the range of optional subjects. The major studies offer a wider range of optional courses, especially courses in the field of interpretation and translation basics, translation history and sociology, cultural studies, history and culture of other Spanish-speaking countries, and common Romance courses in methodology.
