The study is focused on the multilateral language competence in Slovak language, on the contemporary state of Slovak (synchronous linguistic disciplines) in the context of other Slavonic and Indo-European languages, in the part of literary criticism on the history of Slovak literature, its specific features and its genre system. Slovak studies accentuate the comparative Czech-Slovak-Slavonic-Central-European-European area approach, in linguistic disciplines as a contrastive approach, in literary criticism as a comparatuive morphology and genre studies, i.e. the Czech-Slovak comparison in a wider Central-European, European and universal framework.

After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

  • have written and spoken Slovak-language competence at min.the B2 level
  • work independently and conduct critical analyses

Graduates with this degree have a comprehensive philological and area-studies education, which qualifies them for educational and scholarly jobs, jobs in cultural institutions, in tourism, in journalism, as specialists on editorial boards, in low- and mid-level management in firms, in translating specialized and literary texts, in interpreting and as experts.

After completion of the Bachelor's studies, it is possible to continue further studies in Master's degree programme (after satisfying the admission requirements) "Slovak Language and Literature".
