After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- speak and write at C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
- have theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and lexicology; demonstrate the knowledge of linguistic terminology and be able to use it when explaining specific linguistic issues
- demonstrate the knowledge of society, culture and history of German speaking countries, be able to identify cultural values and norms and interpret their significance in order to enhance respect for cultural and language diversity
- demonstrate an understanding of major literary movements in German written Literature, their main representatives and significant literary texts and relevant literary terms; be able to analyze literary texts as forms of cultural expression
The future functioning of the graduates is primarily focused on the educative and pedagogical work of foreign language teachers in areas in which a full teacher’s qualification is not required. Thus, the graduates can work as language instructors in leisure time centres, in summer camps focused on foreign languages, and also as language animators in kindergartens, as teacher assistants in the teaching of handicapped pupils, or in after-school establishments and hobby circles. They can also work as instructors teaching adults (e.g. in company courses), especially in the private sector.
Standard length of studies is 3 years. A part of the studies is foreign language, basic advanced knowledge of the language is expected at the minimal level A2 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), which is built on in classes.
