Study Art Education for elementary schools is a fundamental underpinning of the development of creative thinking. The main objective is to move towards a balanced development of practical art activities and artistic character with theoretical knowledge of art history, art theory and art technologies. Subjects and other work of the department are designed to study simultaneously develop coordination, curatorial and organizational skills that make them able to graduate from high quality and professionally present the results of works of art in education, particularly at secondary level.

Concept studies are currently trying to develop a long-term specifics Brno workplace, which focuses on issues of art and developing the skills of teachers to work with children and school students in the gallery prior art originals. Studying and offers comprehensive professional way to develop creativity, methodical work and the author's own artistic activities.

After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

  • application balanced proportions of practical skills and theoretical knowledge and methodological and methodical experience;
  • independently decide on the suitability and character used artistic processes and art activities and proportional to age;
  • use the experience of contact with works of art and can live a meaningful way his charges lead to an interest in culture and the arts;
  • orientate in the current art with personal interest and offer pupils and students access road to his own work and the acquisition of related experience as well as theoretical and historical knowledge.

Graduates are fully qualified to exercise the profession of art teachers in elementary and secondary schools and at an appropriate level secondary schools. Moreover, it is qualified to operate in extracurricular (eg. Recreational) institutions. He is ready to establish their professional conduct in a well-structured knowledge and skills of visual field. The effectiveness of its professional conduct is subject to the didactic knowledge of the content of art education in primary schools and specifics of secondary schools and the wider general pedagogical and psychological knowledge and skills (knowledge of a broader base of education and training, knowledge and educational practices, knowledge of the actors of education and training, etc. ).

The standard duration of studies is four semesters. For admittance to the final state examination students must obtain a total of 120 ECTS credits for required, selective and elective courses. Required courses constitute the basis of the discipline and make up 81 credits (including credits for courses focused on writing a Master’s thesis). Out of the semi-optional courses, which make up 24 credits in total, students choose according to their interests and intended professional specialization. The remaining 15 credits can be obtained from optional courses offered in the curriculum of the given study programme or from other courses offered by any other study programme.

For all students there is an obligation to complete at least one course taught in English from the ones on offer at the department for the given level of studies.

During the course of their studies students should follow the "Study catalogue" for their year of matriculation. They can access the "Study catalogues" through the faculty website.

Contents of the state exam is as follows:

- Art objects including oborovědidaktických;

- The second study, including didactics;

- Thesis defense;

- Pedagogical-psychological basis for master studies.

The requirements for the candidate's final state exam based on objectives that are expressed in the graduate profile of a Master study arts and other artistic disciplines: There are formulated standard creative skills, knowledge and pedagogical conditions necessary to achieve qualification for the work of art teachers. State final examination follows the completion of all exams, the exam bachelor and works created during his studies as required curricula.

The test takes the form of an oral interview and from one field usually takes 30 minutes. The candidate has a topic that you lot chooses to show, among other things. The ability to define and organize the basic concepts presented in the context main problematic line (events, work, personality, etc.), Its conclusions cultivated in a coherent speech recite and understanding professionally respond to additional questions to the topic.

After completion of the Master's studies, it is possible to continue further studies in Doctoral's degree programme (after satisfying the admission requirements). At the Faculty of Education students can apply for admission to a follow-up Doctoral's degree in Theory of Art and Galery Education.
