The aim of this field of study is to prepare qualified teachers for practical instruction in secondary schools. The graduate gains the foundations of theoretical knowledge in pedagogy and applied psychological disciplines.
The focus of the programme lies in business and operational expertise subjects for practical training in technical disciplines (engineering, construction, electrical) and the fields of trade and services.
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:
- have the basic theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in the fields of teaching of practical disciplines such as technical, business and service disciplines, pedagogy, psychology and learning theory
- possess competences of skilled instructors at schools
Graduates can work in particular as: teachers of practical teaching in secondary schools in accordance with Act No. 563/2004 Coll. about pedagogical staff. Graduates can work as teachers of practical training or in other institutions focussed on their particular field (adult education courses, requalification, etc.)
A part of the studies is a foreign language, and basic knowledge of the language is expected at the minimal level A2 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), which is built on in classes.
The standard length of studies is 3 years.
During their studies, students complete teaching practice. The aim is to consolidate, deepen and prove the acquired knowledge and skills in the pedagogical and psychological disciplines. Emphasis is placed on logical consistency of pedagogical-psychological disciplines with the content of vocational subjects (business operations and services, building technology, electrical engineering, engineering technology, hygiene, transport etc.), including the subject of training. The teaching practice is focused on acquiring knowledge and skills necessary for teachers in the educational environment of secondary school. For these reasons, teaching is focused on the observation and evaluation of specific educational processes depending on the specialization of individual students. Students perform teaching practice in secondary schools under the expert guidance of a teacher.
The study is completed by writing a Bachelor's thesis and passing the final state examination.
The Bachelor's state examination consists of the following subjects:
1. Pedagogy and Psychology (oral or written exam).
2. Defense of the thesis (oral).
3. Methodology and Practice (oral or written exam).
The subjects in the state examination are based on the profile disciplines.
Graduates may continue into the Master's programme to obtain higher teaching qualifications.
