Study-related information
- Parts of the final state examination and its contentGraduates of Master's degree programmes who have obtained the "Master" degree may take the State Rigorous Examination in Computational Biology and Biomedicine. After passing this examination, the academic title "Doctor of Natural Sciences", abbreviated as "RNDr.", is awarded in the field of natural sciences.
The State Rigorous Examination has three components:
1. biology: the range of topics corresponds to the specialisation part of the Master's degree in Computational Biology and Biomedicine.
2. mathematics: the range of topics corresponds to the mathematical part of the Master's degree in Computational Biology and Biomedicine.
3. defence of the thesis: the student is expected to demonstrate the ability to inventively apply mathematical methods to address a specific biological or clinical question, to produce a coherent scientific work, and to discuss the results and conclusions with the already published literature.
More information can be found at: https://www.sci.muni.cz/student/rigorozni-rizeni - Suggestion of theses topics and the topics of defended thesesSuggestion of potential theses topics:
- Trends in 5-year survival of cancer patients adjusted for key clinical characteristics
- Model-based evaluation of the cost-effectiveness of colorectal screening based on available data in the Czech Republic
- Non-interventional clinical trials focusing on lung disease as a tool for introducing innovations in the health system
- Evaluation and significance of temporal sequencing of population screening programmes in primary care
