Applicants enrol in courses of Czech for foreigners via an application form submitted at the Department of Czech for Foreigners (not via the MU Information System).
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The course content is based on the level of Czech language proficiency determined by the entrance test
The entrance test takes place on the first day of the semester (Department of Czech for Foreigners, Arna Nováka 1, building D, 4th floor).
The course must be taken concurrently with the course CJQJPM03 (Language Preparation from Czech for Foreigners: Pre-intermediate 1 - essay).

The aim of the course is to review the already acquired basics of the Czech language (building on the courses CJQJPZ02 and CJQJPZ07) and to expand the existing language competencies:
- review of the basic vocabulary from the course CJQJPZ02
- expansion of vocabulary with conversational topics listed in the course syllabus, practicing, mastering, and applying it along with acquired grammatical knowledge (course CJQJPM01) in sentence construction, dialogues, and basic conversational situations
- improvement of both spoken and written expression in the Czech language
Emphasis is placed on correct pronunciation and its consistent practice through special pronunciation exercises and through reading simple texts.

Entry level of Czech language proficiency: A1/A2 or A2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Exit level of Czech language proficiency: A2 or A2/B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will be able to actively use the conversational topics listed in the course syllabus, including those covered in courses CJQJPZ02 and CJQJPZ07.
The participant will be able to respond appropriately in communicative situations within the scope of the acquired vocabulary.
Based on the grammar studied, the participant will be capable of forming more complex sentence structures, expressing their opinion on various simple topics, and also answering the question "Why?" and providing arguments.

Teaching methods
Tuition conducted by the teacher (theoretical preparation), reading comprehension, listening comprehension, dialogue, independent speech, individual work, pair work and team work, homework, additional exercises (oral and written), translation, work with the textbook and exercises for a given level of knowledge of the Czech language, pronunciation exercises, language games, online exercises, continuous assessment, interpretation of the read and heard text.
Assessment methods
The course is completed with a final written and oral examination.
The final examination consists of a written lexical test and an oral examination.
Course participant must have 75 % active class attendance and must submit all ten written texts (homework assignments for the course CJQJPM03) on time to be allowed to take the final examination.
Late arrival to in-person classes or joining an online class late also counts as an absence. Only absence due to illness (backed up by a medical confirmation) does not count.
Active attendance means readiness for teaching (completed homework, having a textbook and study materials, prepared presentation, etc.) and fulfillment of tasks set by the teacher.
