Abstract
The lecture series Horizons of Theatre Studies at the Department of Theatre Studies, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, offers a space for the meeting of various perspectives on theatre – ranging from academic approaches and artistic practice to topics that may not seem directly related to theatre at first glance, yet broaden our understanding of what theatre is and can be.
We invite guests from various fields and institutions, whether from academia or the cultural and artistic world. Each lecture opens up a new topic and aims to present theatre as a living, dynamic phenomenon that permeates many areas of society and culture.
The series is aimed at students of theatre studies and other disciplines who wish to explore theatre more deeply as a cultural, social, and aesthetic phenomenon. Emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary overlap – we also welcome those who do not focus on theatre directly but whose perspectives can enrich the reflection on theatrical art and its broader context. Lectures are held in Czech or English and are open to anyone interested in contemporary thinking about theatre.
