- Course objectives
- The student understands the fundamental concepts and principles of virtual reality, is able to describe key milestones in the development of VR technologies and is familiar with current VR hardware and software. The student can analyze the potential uses of VR across various fields and gains hands-on experience with VR applications, reflecting on and evaluating their benefits.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Explain fundamental concepts and principles of VR
- Describe key milestones in the historical development of VR technologies
- Identify and compare current VR hardware and software solutions
- Analyze and evaluate the potential uses of VR in different fields of application
- Apply practical skills by engaging with VR applications and reflect on their benefits and limitations - Syllabus
- The syllabus of the course is as follows:
- - Introduction to VR
- - History od f VR
- - Technical aspects of VR
- - Beyond VR (AR, XR etc.)
- - VR application areas, use cases
- - Ethical and social aspects of VR
- Teaching methods
- The course is conducted as self-study e-learning combined with three in-person workshops. The workshops will take place on: 15 October, 14:00–16:00; 12 November, 14:00–16:00; and 10 December, 14:00–16:00.
- Assessment methods
- To successfully complete the course, the following requirements must be met:
- go through the entire interactive syllabus,
- attend all workshop sessions,
- take part in the final colloquium during the examination period. - Language of instruction
