Course objectives
Course Goals: Psychology in substitute family care is a specific application field of family psychology and child clinical psychology. The goal: become knowledgeable about psychological, legal, social and other aspects of substitute parenthood. The necessity of a proper psychological assessment of applicants for substitute family care is stressed, as well as detailed preparation courses and continual psychological care given to foster families. Special attention is paid to examples of good praxis. Students will see video programs from foster families.

  • 1) Basic psychic needs.
  • 2) Psychic deprivation.
  • 3) Subdeprivation.
  • 4) Institution-care.
  • 5) Substitutional home/family-care.
  • 6) Biological and psychological parenthood.
  • 7) Diagnostic and preliminary stages in substitutional home/family-care.
  • 8) Psychological service for parents for foster-parents.
  • 9-12) Other actual themes in home/family-care.
