Course objectives
The course deals with important, however rather neglected branch of politics – the policy analysis. It provides not only the essential insight to the character, methods, importance and position of the field within the political science, but also an overview of basic methodological techniques, which are used in the policy analysis. It gives preference to approaches and concepts, which are oriented primarily on the research of the actors of the political process. In spite of the fact the subject does not provide more systematic generalized explanation of the policy analysis within the Czech political system, however, thanks to seminar part of the course, the students should be able to conceive the possible application of the techniques and methods of the policy analysis in the Czech political system. The main aim of the course is to gain understanding of the concepts and methods of the policy analysis and practice their application to particular problem.
