- Course objectives
- The aim of the course PSYn5370 is a development of lecturer skills, of the ability to facilitate a group and prepare a workshop on psychological topics, especially in a corporate and business environment.
- Learning outcomes
- After the completion of the course, the students will:
i. know, how their body and mind react in the role of a lecturer and how to relax in this role
ii. understand the main principles of experiential learning
iii. know activities from which they can create an educational program
iv. know how to facilitate the group of participants
v. know how to react in difficult situations and work with difficult types of participants
vi. know the roles and tasks of a lecturer and the needs of a group according to its phase of development
vii. be able to prepare and realize a workshop on psychological topic from the field of "soft" skills - Syllabus
- I. The body and mind of the lecturer
- psychosomatic aspects, self-confidence, ability to relax, relationship with oneself, relationship towards one´s own mistakes
- II. How (not) to give a presentation
- designing interactive education, principles of experiential learning
- III. How to facilitate the group of pacticipants
- undestanding the group dynamics, difficult participants and situations and how to work with them, tasks of the lecturer in different phases of the group development
- Teaching methods
- The work in the course is comprised of experiential exercises, its reflection, and application of the developed skills into practice by realizing a "mini-workshop".
- Assessment methods
- The non-graded credit is awarded based on:
I. Participation in all the sessions (max. 3 hours of absence is tolerated for health reasons documented by doctor´s letter of excuse registered in the IS)
II. Realization of a "Mini-workshop":
Team task for pairs of students. The aim is to prepare and realize a 30 minute workshop on psychological topic, such as: effective communication, feedback, conflict resolution, team roles, prejudice and stereotypes, stress management, work-life balance, time management.
After the realization, students will get a feedback on:
i. their presentation skills in the role of a lecturer
ii. interactivity of the program, suitability of chosen methods, engagement of participants
iii. grounding in psychology, using resarch results and theories - Language of instruction
