Course objectives
The goal of course is getting basic theoretical knowledge about Russian syntax. Acquaintance with theoretical knowledge of Russian syntax progress with regard to the similarities and differences between the Russian and Czech languages. The course also validates the knowledge acquired by students from disciplines Grammar 1 and Grammar 2, in which the emphasis on the morphological system of Russian language. At the end of the course student will be able to list the basic features of Russian syntax; to confront it with the Czech system, to identify the syntactic construction; to analyze the structure of Russian simple and compound sentences.

  • 1. Object of syntax. Syntactic units.
  • 2. The simple sentence (general characteristics). Types of sentences according to the communicative intent.
  • 3. The positive a negative sentence.
  • 4. The main constituents of the sentence: subject and predicate.
  • 5. Sentence elements: attribute.
  • 6. Direct and indirect object. Supplement.
  • 7. The adverbial: classification, modes of expression.
  • 8. One-component sentences and their classification.
  • 9. Complex sentence. General characteristics.
  • 10. Types of compound sentences.
  • 11. Types of complex sentences.
  • 12. Sentences with various types of syntactic relations.

Theoretical preparing for the exam during the study. Linguistic terminology. Syntactic analysis, determining the types of syntactic relations. Listening and reading in Russian language.
