- Promotion of Social and Emotional Skills Through Outdoor Activities (programme FSpS, C-SPP)
- Course objectives
- Introduce Teachers to the Innovative Concept of Outdoor Adventure Education (OAE) Present the principles and benefits of outdoor adventure education for students' social and emotional development. Provide a theoretical framework linking physical education and social-emotional learning (SEL). Support the Implementation of OAE in the School Curriculum Provide practical guidance on integrating outdoor activities into teaching. Introduce the Model Curriculum Template for OAE and its potential adaptations based on the specific needs of schools and teachers. Develop Teachers' Skills in Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) through Outdoor Education Help teachers understand how outdoor activities promote self-regulation, collaboration, and students' emotional intelligence. Demonstrate how SEL can be used to support inclusive education and prevent mental health issues. Empower Teachers to Apply OAE Methodology in Practice Provide access to Open Educational Resources (OER) developed within the project. Enable the exchange of experiences and collaboration among teachers through workshops, seminars, and community platforms. Disseminate Research Findings and Policies on OAE and SEL Present research study outcomes and their practical implications for education. Discuss possibilities for teacher certification in OAE within the European context. Support Teachers’ Lifelong Learning in Innovative Teaching Methods Help teachers develop pedagogical competencies focused on innovative teaching methods. Promote a multidisciplinary approach to physical education and personal development. Connect Key Educational Stakeholders for the Broader Implementation of OAE Engage not only teachers but also educational institutions, policymakers, and experts in physical education.

- Participants will gain a theoretical understanding of key concepts and methods related to OAE and SEL in the context of physical education. Knowledge Theoretical Foundations of Outdoor Adventure Education Definition and significance of Outdoor Adventure Education (OAE) Connection between OAE and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Benefits of OAE for students' physical, cognitive, and emotional development Methodology and Approaches to OAE How to effectively integrate outdoor activities into the school curriculum Examples of best practices from various European countries Approaches to inclusive outdoor education Evaluation and Assessment in OAE How to measure the impact of outdoor activities on students' SEL Utilization of various assessment tools Overview of certification and policies in the field of OAE Skills Participants will acquire practical skills necessary for planning and implementing outdoor education in physical education. - Teaching methods
- The course will consist of three parts. After a theoretical introduction in the classroom, a practical exercise will take place in an outdoor environment. Finally, a reflection on the acquired knowledge and participant satisfaction with the course will be conducted through a questionnaire.
