- Course objectives
- Sociology of Economic Life (DSSE) The course deals with the importance of social relations which form the framework for a society's economic life. It provides an introduction to the learning and understanding of the social environment in which the economic decision making and action take place. In this respect it is an indispensable part of preparation for management of economic processes. The structure of the course enables students to achieve several goals in its duration: (1) gain insight into sociology as a science dealing with a modern (industrial) society. Within this framework they have an opportunity to deeply understand the relationship between the sociological and economic approach to the human behaviour and acquire terminology to describe the very structure of society. (2) Orientate themselves in social development and the structure of society. Students will be introduced to some basic sociological topics, stressing specifically the acquisition of knowledge of the functioning of complex market societies. Knowledge of social relations within the framework of modern organisations of both production and non-production character is further developed as to its content within the course Sociology of Organisation and Bureaucracy. Students of the Management programme thus gain an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of topics which they deal with within the framework of their specialisation and which may be useful in the area of management as well. The general objective of the course involves cultivation of the course participants' ability to view the extra-economic social aspects of economic phenomena and processes. Examination: written, oral
