- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- This course is intended to introduce student to the main methods and issues within the public projects’ area with stress put on the processes connected with the project management. Main aim is to get acknowledged with the key elements in connection with practical examples or case studies. Students will be introduced to the project management’ approaches based on the on methodology like PRINCE 2 or instruments associated with the PMBOK. Special attention will be paid to the practical aspects issues of the European Structural and Investment Fund (ESIF) projects connected with the specific phases of the project cycle. Successfully finished course will meant that student will be able to use instruments of the project management, will be acknowledged with the important aspects of the project management in the public sector with possibility to apply skills on the ESIF projects.
- Syllabus
- The course is being taught in the combined form where the estimate of total 12 moduls in connection with the standard length of the semester. Lectures will be concentrated to three tutorials and in the remaining weeks the self-study form will be supported. The course structure is as follows: 1. Introduction to the course – institutional base of the projects within the public sector, governance in the CZ and EU, 2. Project management and its specification in public sector, 3. Issues of the public projects, 4. Project management as a part of the organization’s strategic management, 5. Project cycle as a basic approach to the public project, 6. Project management – methodology and instruments, 7. Practical instruments for the project management (for example software), 8. Specification of the project management in ESIF I., 9. Specification of the project management in ESIF II., 10. Project and its impact on the long term organization development, 11.-12. Final test/exam

- Teaching methods
- The course is being taught in combined form, i.e. combination of present form turorials and self-study blocks. Main aim of the tutorials is to introduce to students practical moduls within the course (see structure of the course). The knowledge of the students will be tested in two tests – during semester and final one. Fulfillment of the tests requirements will be necessary condition for the exam admission. During the course the practical examples and case studies from the public administration area.
- Assessment methods
- The course is terminated via exam. Prerequisite for the exam is the pass of the semestrial and final tests on minimal score of 60% each. For both test the possibility of remedial terms. Semestrial test will be in the on-line form and final test will be present form. Exam will be aimed on the verification of practical knowledge from the project management in the public sector. If any student will be caught cheating during the exam, including cribbing, taking out of tests and in general performing of any behavior disturbing the exam's course, the teacher will cancel exam and is allowed to classify such student with "F" and there will be launched disciplinary procedure that could lead to expulsion from study.
