Course objectives
Technical Graphics focuses on technical drawings in mechanical engineering and partly in electrical engineering, carpentry and construction. Learning outcomes of the course unit The subject is familiarized with standardization in technical drawing, reading and drawing of technical drawings and with regard to the problem of rectangular projection. The emphasis is on drawing documentation, dimensioning and basic knowledge of tolerance, surface structure, workshop measurement. Creating technical documentation goes to the design of products in school workshops. An introduction to the drawing design methodology in 2D and 3D CAD is mentioned.

Seminars focuses on the understanding and development of the drawing documentation. Practicing the basic methodology of creating the drawing documentation creates the basic prerequisite for reading and drawing of the technical drawing. Analysis of technical drawings includes demonstrations of drawings from technical practice, ideas for school workshops, work with worksheets and drawings of drawings in the framework of protocols (homeworks).
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- Understand technical graphics, creating and displaying components and devices on technical drawings;
- use graphical technical information in practical life;
- to draw up technical drawings;
- read and understand technical drawings from technical practice;
- use technical drawings for creating workshops in school workshops;

  • 1. technical standardization,
  • 2. Technical imaging - Rectangular projection and imaging (ISO E and ISO A);
  • 3. rules for displaying drawings,
  • 4. Basic terms and rules for dimensioning,
  • 5. rules for the dimensioning of geometric and structural elements of components,
  • 6. Tolerance of dimensions - length and geometric tolerances, tolerance field,
  • 7. Surface structure,
  • 8. imaging and marking of joints,
  • 9. Drawing of standardized machine parts and gears,
  • 10. the basics of workshop measurement,
  • 11. Drawing documentation, creation of reports, creation of design documentation in 2D and 3D CAD,
  • 12. technical drawings in electrical engineering, carpentry and construction.
  • Syllabus of lectures:
  • Week 1 and 2: Introduction to technical standardization and technical imaging.
  • 3rd and 4th week: Rules for displaying drawings and basic rules for dimensioning.
  • 5th and 6th week: Dimensioning of geometric and structural elements and dimension tolerances.
  • 7th and 8th week: Structure of surface and marking of joints.
  • 9th and 10th week: Drawing of standardized machine parts and transfers, drawing documentation and assembly.
  • 10th and 12th week: Creation of design documentation in 2D and 3D CAD and technical drawings in electrical engineering, carpentry and construction.
  • Syllabus of seminars:
  • Week 1 and 2: Introduction to technical standardization and technical imaging. 3rd and 4th week: Display rules, rectangular projection (ISO E and ISO A).
  • 5th and 6th week: Basic rules for dimensioning, dimensioning of prisms and machine parts.
  • 7th and 8th week: Dimensioning of geometric and structural elements, tolerance of dimensions, graphical representation of tolerance fields and storage.
  • 9th and 10th week: Structure of surface and marking of joints.
  • 11th and 12th week: Drawing of standardized machine parts and gears, drawing and designing of machine parts, fundamentals of workshop measurements.
