Course objectives
At the end of this course the student will be able to: explain the operation of AC circuits and their practical use, mainly electrical machinery and zoblasti measurement and measurement methods.

Syllabus
  • 1. Alternating circuits (definition of alternating current, origin of alternating current, mathematical expression of alternating current and alternating voltage, quantities and units of alternating current, phasors, power of alternating current). 2. Three-phase system (three-phase alternating current, time course of induced voltage, properties of three-phase system, basic connection of three-phase system, connection of three-phase winding to star and triangle, load of three-phase system, power and work of three-phase current, power factor compensation, rotating magnetic field). 3. Electrical machines (division of electrical machines, transformers, structural arrangement of transformers, use, principle of operation of transformers, ideal transformer, basic equations of transformer). 4. Asynchronous rotating machines (meaning and use of asynchronous machines, structural arrangement, block diagram, principle of operation, slip, losses, efficiency, starting of asynchronous motors, braking of asynchronous motors, torque characteristics of asynchronous machines, single-phase asynchronous motor, linear asynchronous motor). 5. Synchronous and DC rotating machines (meaning and use of synchronous and direct current machines, functional block diagram of synchronous and direct current motor and generator, design of synchronous and dc machines, principle of operation, alternators - types, phasing of alternators to the network, commutation and methods of excitation of dc machines). 6. Electrical measuring instruments. Methods of measuring basic electrical quantities. (division of electrical measuring instruments, measuring range, sensitivity of measuring instruments, measurement errors, accuracy classes of electrical instruments, factors influencing measurement accuracy, overloadability, marks on electrical instruments, types of measuring methods, measurement of active and passive quantities, principle of bridge methods , oscilloscope measurement).
