Course objectives
The aim of this course is to develop skills in academic writing.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, the student will be able to: - use academic and technical vocabulary; - read and analyse texts to make use of them in writing; - understand different genres and text types; - write a critical evaluation of a journal article.

  • SESSION 1: Course introduction; introduction to academic writing; SESSION 2: Coherence and cohesion; SESSION 3: Hedging, boosting and authorial presence; SESSION 4: Summarising and citation.
