Prerequisites
Knowledge - obtained in courses oriented on psychology in BC study level (general, developmental, social). To elaborate presentation: - analyses of inner coping strategies - comparison with theoretical principles (stressors - physiology domain, emocional, behavioral, current trends of coping strategies, their effectivness and risks), - inter-active problém solving: case study - composition of intervention program. Written exam.

Course objectives
The aim of the course is to give survey of various factors influencing positively-negatively) on personal health or ilness. The basic idea of the course is understanding of substance of bio-psycho-social harmony of individuals and its context with health or illness. The influence of prevention of "civilization" illness, support to healthy life style is underlined. Personal responsibility is stressed.
Learning outcomes
Course graduates would be able to understand to the factors connection and apply the theoretical principles into field practice.
Syllabus
  • • Definition: health - illnesss. The development of approaches, concepts, models. • Health support, prevention, protection. programs and projects. • Public and communal policy. • Health, welness and qwuality of life. • Bio-psycho-social factors positively influencing on health: spiritual hygiene, social environment, nutrition, physical aktivity, time management. • Bio-psycho-social factors negatively on health:stres, alcohol, drugs, smoking, gambling, risk sex, injuries, social problems, etc. • Inter-acvtion, communication in health - illness environment (clients, family, different types of institutions). Model situation: problém solving of real case studies - in seminars.

Active participation in seminars - 80 % • ppt presentation (dealing with health - illness domain). Evaluation: Yes - Re-write in deadline - NO acceptance • Exam: written test (15 open questions, min. 60 % for success, scale of evaluation A – F.
