Course objectives
The course provides an insight into the very basics of geological, regulatory, economic, and social aspects of the carbon capture and storage technology (CCS). CCS is considered as an important tool in decreasing global carbon dioxide emmissions, thus capable of reducing the humankind's impact on the climate change. The success individual CCS projects is derived from suitable geological conditions, favourable regulatory framework that would contribute to their economic viability, and public support on the nation as well as local level. • • The course is opened to all Masaryk University students. In an accessible way, the course will provide the students with an overview of the key dimensions of CCS. • • The lectures will be held by members of the Masaryk University Center for Energy Studies, a joint research team of the Faculty of Social Studies and Faculty of Sciences. These lectures will be held in Czech. • •
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the students will be able to understand and interpret the geological, economic and political features of underground storage of carbon dioxide.
