Course objectives
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the basic problems of the individual sectors of the uranium economy. The course is structured to give students a comprehensive understanding of the key aspects of uranium use. Students will first be introduced to the history of uranium mining and nuclear power in the Czech Republic and will then be presented with issues of all key aspects of uranium use: radioactivity and effects of ionizing radiation, operation of nuclear power plants, nuclear fuel cycle, environmental aspects of nuclear power and nuclear accident and uranium utilization in military and international politics.
Learning outcomes
The course is intended as an introductory into broad discipline of uranium business. Students will obtain complex information to analyse energy security issues of the Czech Republic in the international level. Students will be able to roeitn themselves also in technical and economical aspects of uranium production and nuclear energy.
