Course objectives
The course aims at acquiring practical interviewing and observation skills as tools for gaining psychological knowledge. Throughout the semester, there are practical interviewing exercises with emphasis on basic interviewing techniques, as well as interview practice in various psychological contexts; observation training, summarizing and describing the results of observations.
Learning outcomes
Student bude po úspěšném absolvování kurzu schopen: (i) naplánovat rámec exploračního rozhovoru a realizovat jej, (ii) vhodně aplikovat facilitační techniky vedení rozhovoru, (iii) vypořádat se s etickými výzvami exploračních rozhovorů, (iv) zaznamenávat data získaná rozhovorem a analyzovat je, (v) poskytnout kultivovanou zpětnou vazbu k užití metod vedení rozhovoru, (vi) naplánovat pozorovací schéma a užít jej pro zaznamenání vybraného jevu, (vii) analyzovat takto získaná data a interpretovat zjištění.
Syllabus
  • Topics of teaching through individual seminars: 1. definition of the subject, ethical aspects of interview and observation basic interviewing techniques (active listening, reflection) how to record an interview 2. theory of observation, observation scheme - what to notice and why, social perception and its distortions, self-reflective techniques 3. feedback - how to do it, context I - Specifics of the interview in the context of occupational psychology (e.g. practicing the job interview) 4. context II - Conducting an interview in the context of crisis intervention and practical clinical psychology (the seminar will be conducted in the form of practicing an interview with a patient after communicating a serious dg.) 5. context III - Specifics of the interview with children and adolescents

Teaching methods
Seminars, practical exercises in pairs and in groups, video training interaction, written feedback.
Assessment methods
During the semester the learner takes a video of his own interview, elaborates detailed feedback on a colleague's video and presents his abridged form at a seminar - these tasks are rated as fulfilled / unfulfilled.
